Materials needed:
1. 1/2 sheet of white tagboard (you
can use card stock if you don't have access to tagboard)
2. A photo of the child.
You can use digital photos or processed film.
3. Laminate
4. Calendar sheets (Both black &
white and colored calendars are available on this website for you to print
out). You will want to cut the sides and bottom of each calendar
first, line them all up so that the bottom and sides are even, and then
cut the top. That way all of your calendar sheets will be the same
size. You may even want to leave a little extra room at the top for
the staples. If you choose the black and white calendars you may
want to have your students color the sheets before they are stapled to
the tagboard. It's all a matter of personal preference.
You can save any of the calendars to your
computer by right clicking on them (PC computers) and then clicking on
"save image as". By saving them to your computer you will be able
to insert them into Microsoft Word so that you can print out two calendars
to a sheet of paper.
5. Glue stick
6. Magnetic strips
Markers, crayons, or colored pencils (optional)
Assembly
1. Cut the tagboard (card stock) in half.
You will end up with enough tagboard to make two calendars.
2. Glue the child's picture to the
top of the tagboard.
3. The child can write things
next to the picture (I Love You, XOXO, etc...)
4. Laminate the tagboard with
the picture attached.
5. Staple the calendar pages
below the picture.
6. Place the magnetic strips
on the back.
7. Your calendar is now complete.
You can try doing different things with the picture. You may want to cut an oval shape out of the picture and use a construction paper heart for the background, gluing the oval picture over the top of the heart.
