Information quality 1: Information quality is
an issue on the Internet now more than ever. One must take into account
that anyone , anywhere, at any point in time can publish something on the
internet. It is very important to find sources that are accredited,
some sources such as Wikipedia are not always liable and can sometimes contain
false information. It is important to have some prior knowledge on
the subject which is in question, with prior knowledge it is easier to flag
site that contain incorrect or blatantly biased information.
|
Information quality 2: The quality of information
effects myself as well as others by the fact that it is necessary to be very
particular when choosing a site to reference, or research from. It
is hard to find information that is unbiased in some way or another, this
makes ones search hard by the fact that a lot of the time the information
that he or she is looking at is only one side of the issue. Also it
is important to find up to date information so one must check to make sure
that the site has been modified in a relatively recent or acceptable time.
|
Critical thinking: To increase the value that
one attains from the Internet, one must proceed by searching in depth on
what they want to find, for there are so many sites that cover a large array
of topics. When one narrows a search down to a very particular subject
which requires a liable site to have information pertaining to that subject,
things will become easier.
|
Pitfalls: There are many things that one can
avoid doing while using the Internet for studying, teaching and research.
It is important to use relative keywords and subject fields when conducting
a search, avoid using broad terms and vague subject field descriptions.
Do not always opt for the easy option, every search engine provides a different
result, do not just limit yourself to Google.com due to the fact that you
are comfortable with it.
