Jennifer Wisner

My name is Jennifer Wisner, and I am a senior at Central Michigan University studying French and English. I grew up in a small town in West Michigan. This past summer I spent six weeks at the Université de Québec à Chicoutimi. I was in a French immersion program, and it was AWESOME! It was like summer camp for big kids! After that, I spent six weeks at Michigan State University at the Linguistics Society of America Summer Institute. I took classes in Phonology, Syntax, and Sociolinguistics, trying to decide if any of those could hold my interest in future study.

My goals include finishing my under grad work here at CMU and then teaching either French or English in a high school at some as-of-yet-undetermined location for an also undetermined amount of time. I hope to go to grad school, but I don't know yet what, specifically, I'd like to study.  I'm thinking about linguistics or ESL/EFL, but hopefully that's what teaching high school for a little while will help me decide. There's also a program I am going to apply for after I finish my under grad work where I would be able to teach English for a year in France, and hopefully that will also help me to be a little more specific about my future plans. Maybe I'll spend a little time in France...

Or then again, maybe I'll go back to Québec!
