Introduction Top
How does a spring break trip to Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida sound? It is up to you and your group to plan a trip for 3 to Walt Disney World, while trying to save as much money as you possibly can. Each member of the group will be assigned a role and will have a few individual tasks to complete. Also, there will be a presentation portion of the WebQuest in which all members of the group must participate. Each group will have to present their cost effective trip to Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida. The 2 big questions that need to be answered by the end of the WebQuest are: is Mathematics used in our everyday lives and what is the lowest amount of money that can be used to plan a trip to Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida for 5 days and 4 nights?

The Task Top
By completing this WebQuest, you and your group members will have done 2 major things. The first is you will see first hand how Mathematics is used in our everyday lives, and you will have planed a cost effective trip to Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida. In order for your group to get there you must complete the following:
- ticket prices to be found;
- directions to be mapped out;
- car rentals to be made;
- gas mileage to be calculated;
- hotels to be booked;
- summary to be created;
- money to be SAVED;
- fun to be found, or
- anything that requires the learners to process and transform the information they've gathered.
Your final product should be put onto a poster board. On the poster board should be a map of the route that you took to get to the location, a list of how many time you had to stop and get gas, and the total amount of money spent, which should be organized into categories such as money spent on the tickets for Walt Disney World, money spent on gas, money spent on the rental car, and money spent on the hotel, on the entire trip to Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida.

The Process Top
- First you'll be assigned to a team of 3 students.
- Next, each member of the group will pick 1 of the 3 roles:
- Everyone in the group will then find the price for the 4 day package for Walt Disney World tickets using the 1st web site provided.
- The Driver will need to find a good rental minivan using the 5th web site provided below.
- The Navigator will then need to find a good hotel, in the Walt Disney area, for your group to stay at during your trip to Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida. To aid in the hotel picking process use the 2nd link provided below.
- After that the Navigator will also need to use the 3rd link to have the trip to Orlando, Florida mapped out there as well as back home.
- After the Navigator figures out how many miles it will take to get there and back, the driver with the help of the accountant, will need to calculate the amount that will be spent of gas assuming that the price for gas will be $2.50.
- After all of the calculations have been completed with the help of the Accountant, the Accountant must make sure that all of the money spent is organized in a neat chart.
- During the given class time, you are your group members must put together a presentation of your Cost Efficient Trip to Walt Disney World WebQuest for the class.
- Make sure that you print out the map from the 3rd link of your route to your hotel in Orlando, Florida and back home.
- Each member will present the information that they were in charge of finding and the Accountant will explain how all of the calculations were made so the class will be able to see how Mathematics is used in our everyday lives.
Here is the list of roles to choose from:
- The Driver: Will be in charge of the car rental, and also figures out how much will be spent on gas if the price of gas is $2.50.
- The Accountant: Keeps records of all the money that have been spent throughout the WebQuest. The Accountant will also aid their group members, if needed, in any calculations throughout the WebQuest.
- The Navigator: In charge of picking a hotel in the Walt Disney area. The Navigator will also figure out the route to be taken and how many miles the route is so the driver can figure out the gas mileage.

Here are some tips/hints that will help you and your group complete this WebQuest.
For calculating the amount of money that will be spent of gas, use the 4th link to find how big the gas tank of your rental car is so you will be able to figure out how many times you need to stop for more gas. Pay attention to the miles per gallon for each vehicle, this number will help you in your calculations.

Here are a few things that should be pointed out before assigning this WebQuest. Please make sure that students are working in groups of 3, not 2 or 4. In addition, all class time that will be given to the students to work should be used to the full potential. Also, while students are using the computers for their research, please make sure that they are staying on track and are not surfing the web instead of completing their WebQuest.
