Flesh For Lulu - "Decline And Fall"

Example

This one's for Wendy. :)

Flesh For Lulu played a supporting role in the beginning of our "college marriage." Our first date was a showing of Some Kind of Wonderful, which featured their song "I Go Crazy." It became one of our songs. Today Wendy told me that she hadn't been able to find their song "Decline and Fall." I found it. :) She (and you) can get it by right clicking right here and selecting the Save Link As option from the pop up menu.

Awesome. I haven't heard this in (I'm betting) a decade. It reminds me of 91 Rock FM. :)

Gnarls Barkley - "Crazy"

Gnarls Barkley had an awesome single last year called "Crazy," which would have gone on my best of 2005 CDR if I hadn't decided that the whole end-of-the-year CDR thing was a relic of pre-iPod thinking. But it's still an amazing song and a HUGE hit in the UK. I predict it will be the single of the summer here in the U.S. Get it for yer iPod by right clicking right here and selecting the Save Link As option from the pop up menu.

Hahaha. Bless yer soul!

The Wrens - "Everyone Chooses Sides"

The Wrens were my favorite discovery of 2005. Their 2003 release The Meadowlands was in competition with Of Montreal and Aimee Mann for Most Played on Andy's iPod in 2005. Of course, I only got the thing in July of 2005. But somehow, nine months later, The Meadowlands has found its way back onto my puny 4GB iPod AND it is the first non-podcast I scroll for every day. It is once again a daily listen. "Everyone Chooses Sides" was probably overlooked by me in the past, as it is towards the end of the CD. But it is now it's my favorite of a CD full of amazing songs. You can check it out by right clicking here, sucka, and selecting the Save Link As option from the pop up menu.

BTW, I am in The Wrens' top 8 on Myspace. I am also in Guy Smiley's. Fuck, I'm cool!

Of Montreal - "Wraith Pinned To The Mist (and other games)"

Man, I LOVE Of Montreal! They are SO awesome! They have been around for a while, but they have gotten GOOD. My friend Allan, a dude with a Jack Johnson CD in his apartment, fell in love with them too. Maybe you will too (NOTE: If you don't I probably don't want to know you). Download track #3, "Wraith Pinned To The Mist (and other games)," from their most recent release, The Sunlandic Twins, by right clicking where X marks the spot and selecting the Save Link As option from the pop up menu.

And if you dig on it, click here to watch or listen to Of Montreal performing on KCRW's Morning Becomes Eclectic.

The Monks - "Love in Stereo"

Example

I discovered this band while searching for MP3s of the legendary 60's garage band The Monks. These Monks are late 70's new wavers who would not sound at all out of place on the soundtrack to any early 80's teen comedy. And this song, "Love in Stereo," is the great lost early eighties new wave hit that never was. Or something.

Just download it from me, upload it to yer iPod, and party like it's 1979. :) Click here and select the Save Link As option from the pop up menu.

I'm gonna go play Galaga now.

Sloan - "Money City Maniacs"

Example

Sloan are my favorite band. Period. End of discussion. And unlike Stephen Malkmus, I don't think they'll ever do anything to change that. But what song to post here? Four songwriters. Seven albums. So much great music from which to choose. But when it comes down to it, "Money City Maniacs," from their 1998 release Navy Blues, is one that I can listen to again and again and again. So for my first post here on Unsound Opinions, I'll set you right up with it. Just right click here and select the Save Link As option from the pop up menu.

Your new obsession starts now. :)
