I love that Garrison Keillor is back writing at Salon.com. This is his second English major-related piece, so far. He makes a good point though. Why can't some of this pork, these fucking boondoggles like the much-publicized $223 million bridge in Alaska, include some libraries and schools? What, can't Halliburton steal enough money building schools or libraries? (Answer: Apparently not) I mean, it's just too bad that we can't have corrupt politicians AND well-funded schools and libraries. Because the former sure isn't going away as long as the Republicans pull each and every branch of government. But I guess I just don't see why they can't rip us off AND do some good for us at the same time. Are the two ALWAYS mutually exclusive? (Answer: Seemingly so)
