Associated Press: Sneaky Spyware Becomes Internet Scourge

Read this article and know my pain. I got one of these spywares, viruses really, a few months back. The only way to beat it was to completely re-install Windows. And as you know, that can be a bit of a project. But it worked. Then, just a few days ago, I got another one. I've stopped using Internet Explorer, but my processing speed has quite plainly been affected. These programs are obviously running in the background, and IE still pops up browser windows from time to time, even when I'm using Mozilla. So I guess I'm going to have to re-install Windows again. But this next time, I won't be going back to Internet Explorer. It's just not secure against these programs.

First the Olsen Twins, Now eBay: T-Shirt Hell.com Told to Cease and Desist Selling Their New Christopher Reeve T-Shirt

In anticipation of a Kerry victory this Tuesday night (or perhaps as late as Wednesday afternoon), I guess I will begin posting more material of a decidedly non-political nature.

Like this.

T-Shirt Hell is the source of my very-much-admired "I bet you'll vote this time, hippy" shirt, which, BTW, has now been bequeathed to Nate from The Bird. But I enjoy T-Shirt Hell most for their caustically hilarious sense of humor, evidenced both in their press coverage and their weekly emails. However, if you want a shirt that might get you the beating of your life, something, BTW, that is happening more and more frequently here in Mount Pleasant, they have plenty of shirts that can definitely help you accomplish this.

Daily Endorsement Tally: On 'Super Sunday,' Kerry Makes Huge Gains

From Editor & Publisher:

In E&P's exclusive tally this weekend, Kerry won over 35 newspapers that backed Bush in 2000, while Bush got just two Gore papers. So in the newspaper endorsement race, Kerry now leads Bush 125-96 in endorsements, and he leads by about 16 million to 10 million in the circulation of backing papers.

You can read more here.

Personally, I think the election is Bush's to lose. Here's hoping that his reverse Midas touch holds out for eight more days.

Eight Days to Go!

We are now being bombarded with wildly differing polls and predictions about who is ahead in this election? Pretty scary, right? Well, maybe. But here are some things to keep in mind:

1. Kerry is statistically tied or ahead in the key battleground states that will decide the election: Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Florida.

2. Bush's approval rating stands at an anemic 44%, and no president under 50% this late in the game has ever won re-election.

3. Most polls count only "likely voters," which is based on past elections, ignoring that many more "registered voters" will turn out this year.

4. Most polls are ignoring new voters, including the millions newly registered in swing states by progressive, anti-Bush groups.

5. Many polls are actually polling more Republicans than Democrats!

Feeling better?

Good. :)
