Cynthia Tucker: Supreme Court May Be on the Brink of Great Change
I just read an awesome quote from Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia. In a speech last year defending the scaling back of individual rights during wartime, Scalia said:
"The Constitution just sets minimums. Most of the rights that you enjoy go way beyond what the Constitution requires."
See? Awesome. Now that Bush has won/stolen another four years, I can't WAIT to see which rights that we currently enjoy will be the first to be lost.
Seriously, I don't know about you, but I am perfectly happy with the amount of rights that I currently have and am not all that keen on giving up ANY of them.
Here, BTW, is an op-ed piece by Cynthia Tucker about the possible future direction of the Supreme Court under Bush. Read it and cringe.
