NPR: Cronkite Recalls Mayhem of '68 Convention

From NPR's All Things Considered:

As Democrats prepare for next week's convention in Boston, Walter Cronkite recalls a past convention that also had an unpopular war headlining. At the 1968 Democratic gathering in Chicago, anti-Vietnam war protests in the city were put down by a brutal police force, which led to violence inside and out of the convention.

Listen to Walter Cronkite's fascinating report here.

Here is a page containing more audio from the convention, as well as a photo gallery.

Truly fascinating stuff. Makes the mind boggle at what OUGHT to transpire at the Republican convention later this summer.
