CBS: Bush Overtime Rules Slammed
From CBS News:
The Bush administration's new overtime regulations are set to take effect on August 23, and that means over six million workers could be left without overtime protection, according to a new study by the Economic Policy Institute (EPI). Included in those who would lose overtime pay are nearly two million administrative workers and nearly one million other workers who would be reclassified as "learned professionals" even though they don't possess college degrees. Also set to be cut from overtime eligibility:
- 130,000 chefs and cooks
- 160,000 financial service workers
- 117,000 teachers and computer programmers
Read about it here.
Once again, I find myself AMAZED at the lack of outrage on the part of the American people in response to Bush's success at doing away with overtime pay.
The important quote from this article:
"Sen. John Kerry has said that if elected president he would move immediately to restore overtime protections to those who would lose it. "
There you have it. America, you know what to do.
