I asked Anne this question last Friday night, and she loved the question so much, joyfully exclaiming it a most wonderfully geeky question, that I didn't get an answer.
So here's my answer:
My favorite NPR commentator is, without question, Daniel Schorr.
If I had to pick a vice-favorite NPR commentator, should my favorite NPR commentator be unable to perform his duties, I would pick Andrei Codrescu.

Okay, here's my top 5 NPR commentators:
1. Linda Wertheimer
2. Nina Totenberg
3. Daniel Schorr
4. Scott Simon
5. Mandalit Del Barco
Close runners up are Daniel Pinkwater, Bob Edwards, and of course your mention of Andrei Codrescu means I can't not include him. His cool accent + his mean writing skills = very cool individual. Plus he has that whole Exquisite Corpse thing.
